A good time was had by all
I met up with elinor_dear at a coffee shop. It's a cute little occult place with an odd variety of things for sale and comfy sofa to sit on while we consumed our beverages. Then it was off to El Guero Canelo - which is an authentic Sonoran restaurant where they serve grilled green onions in the salsa bar. OMG - these green onions are normally large, but tonight they were HUGE. These ones were, well, I think phallic is really the only word that accurately describes them, two of these on my plate, yeah, that's really what it looked like. I should have had her take a picture to post. Then we were off to a toy store. It was like reliving my childhood. All my favorites were there. And these are quality toys. Very little plastic. They make this stuff to last for generations. The movie was Julie and Julia. While we were waiting for it to begin, we were chatting about a friend of Erika's and she was saying of this friend, "All her safewords are in Klingon." OMG! I laughed so hard. Those aren't really words that most people combine into a sentence, and that description of her friend made me feel pretty mainstream. There was a huge black Newfoundland service dog in the theater who wanted to eat all the popcorn on his way in, but then was very well behaved, more so than the couple in front of us who felt the need to talk through the movie. But the movie was good, cute and funny. Current Mood: energetic | | 2:39 am |
FB Survey
I was at Walmart, buying clothes for my kids, and noticed Mountain Dew themed boxer shorts. OMG - the thoughts that provoked were just too funny, in a perverted way. Current Mood: naughty | | Thursday, November 19th, 2009 | | 8:42 pm |

Long time; no post
It's been a while since I posted anything here, but things have been chaotic lately. My husband and I have decided to get a divorce. It's very amicable and we're both going to live in the house until it's final. We have agreed on custody and division of property. So now I need to get a job to be able to support myself and my kids. I can do admin asst, receptionist, accounting, office manager, data entry, and other office-type things. There are a few things that I will be needing (I have a few months to gather these items). If you know of anyone getting rid of these things, please let me know. Twin-sized bunk beds with matresses. Coffee table and two end tables (not necessarily matching) Lamps A fan or two A washer and dryer (if it doesn’t work I might still be able to use it – my neighbor fixes them for a living). A dresser A computer desk with printer stand A filing cabinet A microwave A toaster Queen-sized bedding Twin-sized bedding suitable for boys aged 8 and 10 A vacuum cleaner Large Rubbermaid-type storage bins Weed-whacker A tool box Current Mood: melancholy | | Thursday, January 12th, 2006 | | 8:07 pm |
Dan's Diner
Welcome to Dan's Diner at the Surreal County Fair. Today we are offering standard fair fovorites. We feature hot dog on a stick, corn dog on a stick, corn on the cob on a stick, and man on a stick. Man on a stick? Today I took the boys to the supermarket to get taco fixings. We went down the Mexican food aisle, where they also have the Catholic candles. Dan saw them and asked me, "Why is there a man on a stick on that candle?" We have apparently never mentioned Jesus Christ to him in any manner. He had no idea that Christmas was about Christ. I should mention that although he does not attend mass, my husband was raised Catholic. He doesn't want me to teach the kids about Wicca, but he has neglected to teach them about Christianity. I am still entirely too amused by the phrase, "Man on a stick." Of course I've always been somewhat sacreligious, but I keep saying it and giggling. EDIT: Man On a Stick. Not available in stores. It slices, it dices, it juliennes fries. It will regrow your hair and increase your metabolism. Provides natural male enhancement. Cooks pancakes in 30 seconds. Nothing sticks to it, you can burn cheese and it slides right off. Provides hours of fun for the whole family. Melts chocolate without burning it. But wait! There's more. With every Man On a Stick you order we'll throw in eternal salvation for free. NOW how much do think you'll pay? $49.99? $39.99? $29.99. Nope. For less than twenty dollars you can have all of this. If you call in the next seven minutes, we'll double your order. That's right. Two Men On a Stick. Keep one in the house and one in the car. Give one to friend. They make great gifts. Call now. Only $19.99 plus $37.42 shipping and handling. Credit card orders are accepted. No checks or COD. Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. Must be at least 18 to call. Operators are standing by. I see this possibly followed up with Ginzu Man On a Stick - cuts a sofa in half, yet still slices this tomato as thin as paper. Or Chia Man On a Stick. The five habits of highly neurotic people
1. I make up silly songs with my pets' names. "Squeaky Pip. The little kitty with the rocket ship..." (to the tune of Baby Face). "Fuzz Butt, nuthin' but Fuzz Butt, nuthin' but Fuzz Butt, his butt has fuzz." (to the Theme from Star Wars). There are many more, but I like you folks so I won't subject you them. 2. I will not eat mayonnaise on anything. I will not eat the yolks of hard boiled eggs. Yet I love deviled eggs. 3. I drink Brown Cows, which are milk and Pepsi. It is critical that you pour the Pepsi in first and let the foam settle before adding the milk. Under no circumstance should you reuse your glass, as the milk residue will keep the foam from settling in the second serving. 4. I eat raw beef. Beef is best when warm, before it turns brown. It's especially good with some Lawry's Seasoned Salt. 5. I buy crafting products for which I have no use, and often have no skills to use them, because they're pretty. Purely optional
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want -good or bad- BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you. Tea time
My tea business is doing well. I'm having my second party on Saturday (11-2 - my house if anyone wants to come). I've sold over half of the tea ware from my first tea ware order and I have people making requests of teas that they want from my next tea order. I REALLY need to get cracking on a catalog so people can see what all I have. Also, icka_imp is moving to New Zealand and I am hosting a going away party for her on Sunday 2-5, also at my house. If you know her and would like to see her before she moves at the end of the month, please come. Current Mood: amused | | Thursday, October 6th, 2005 | | 5:58 pm |

Pop
My father-in-law passed away this afternoon of natural causes. He was 87. He took a turn for the worse Thursday before last, so this wasn't completely unexpected. Jim is going to Philadelphia for the funeral but the boys and I are staying here in Tucson. Things are going to get ugly and I don't want them exposed to it. Jim has talked to several of his siblings to get all the details, but his brother's wife was with Pop when he died, so he wasn't alone. The boys aren't really upset, but then they didn't know Pop all that well. Chris asked me if Pop was Daddy's daddy. Current Mood: morose | | Monday, August 1st, 2005 | | 12:38 pm |
Home again
We had a wonderful trip over the last five days. We drove to Pasadena to see an old friend of mine from high school. He and his wife have a son whose age is right between my boys. They also have an adorable four-year-old daughter. His wife is a quilter and we hit several of the local quilt shops where I got wonderful fabrics, patterns, and books. She and I even talked about going to a quilting weekend in October. We swam in their pool and played board games. The kids got along great and were amazingly well behaved in the car for the 500-mile-each-way journey. Of course it figures that when we finally find a couple that we get along so well with they live 500 miles away. But we hope to visit them more often and have them come see us (though they've already said they won't come to Tucson in the summer). Even though we really had a wonderful time, it's great to be home and sleeping in our own beds again. The pets seemed happy to see us. And my friend who took care of the place for me cleaned it while we were gone. I have wonderful friends. Current Mood: good | | Wednesday, July 20th, 2005 | | 9:17 pm |
Pretty please
I have a very childish request for you all in the Tucson area. I was supposed to get a cat from a Freecycler tomorrow. She had promised him to me over a week ago. Today she e-mailed me to tell me that she’s giving him to someone else. I know this is immature but I ask that you not give any freecycle items to Mehmehcat@aol.com My sons are so disappointed because we’ve been looking at his picture and talking about what to name him for days. I’m disappointed too. I was really looking forward to getting him. Current Mood: crushed | | Friday, July 15th, 2005 | | 10:36 am |
Kitty cuteness
We are adopting a friend for Flynx. He's a tabby that we're going to name Pip. He gets fixed on the 21st and will come home after that. | | Tuesday, July 12th, 2005 | | 9:02 pm |
Almost ready
I got the wholesale catalog from my tea supplier today. I also got the one for the fancy china tea sets. Last week I got the everyday tea set catalog. Now I need to make them into one big catalog for me. I'm ready to start booking parties for August. I'm thinking of having a party at my house on August 7th to kick things off but I want to schedule a few other parties so the hostesses can let me know which teas they want to serve and I can get them in my first order. So any tea loving Tucsons reading this who are willing to attend/host a party, let me know. Current Mood: excited |
